Innovation is about improvements to existing stuff, or development of new stuff, primarily by force of ideas. It could be big or small. And who doesn’t want improvements or new stuff, particularly if they come about merely through ideas alone!

Our innovation methodology is unique in that we do not feel bound by any model of ideation viz brainstorming, lateral thinking, mindset change, rotating contexts, synectics etc or any of innovation viz product development, process development or TRIZ. Since innovation depends on the ability to not get stuck by existing boundaries, it seems heretic to follow a rigid system for innovation.

Instead of being tool centered, we are situation centered. We simply use whatever the situation at hand requires.

Typically, there are three main situations –
•    No Boundary - Blue Sky or Sweet Spot thinking. When you are developing options ab initio. For this, we may use tools like Trend analysis, Opportunity scope, Business model, 9 Window Box etc
•    Loose Boundary - When your industry is fixed but product or service within it is not. This may use tools like Insight development, JTBD ( Job to be done ), Value tool, Ecosystem study etc.
•    Fixed boundary - When product/service is fixed but only in a general sense and the existing one is open to improvement. This may use tools like FFF ( Function follows Form), Benefit from lemons, SCAMPER, Biomimicry, Problem solving etc.

Three situations is very broad category. If fine tuned, the needs can be almost 20 different ones.  For each need, we use a different set of  tools. No silver bullets.

We use repeatable tools which can be used even after we leave. Specific, step-by-step tools and not just inspiration and case studies.

We can also establish an idea management system in the organization and audit the creativity climate.

So, whether you need small improvements or breakthrough new products, call us.

And let us not restrict ourselves to product or even process. We help apply innovation to al the ten areas – business model, networking, core processes, enabling processes, product performance, product system, service, channel, brand and customer experience.
